I used a blue striped fabric the same as one of the drawings.... so yes it did.

Were the instructions easy to follow?

Very easy to follow.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?

Love the wide waist band and the pockets.

Fabric Used:

Some kind of cotton blend fabric that I found in the value fabrics at Hancock Fabrics.

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:

I made a size 12 with no alterations needed.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?

I highly recommend this pattern to others. Yes I would make it again.

Conclusion:

Cute skirt that's easy to make with many different style and length variations.

The top is Simplicity 2614. Great little blouse pattern that comes with different cup sizes. I'm planning on making another one maybe with the neck tie next time.

Stress levels are much better this week after I managed to squeeze in a little sewing time. I worked on a vogue skirt and cardi.

Stress And Stitches

Sorry it's been a little while since my last post. Due to a family situation I have not been a able to sew a single stitch this past month. Sewing for me is  a stress reliever so as you can imagine I have been a tad stressed :) this past month.


I do have a couple of things to show you that I made up early this summer and never got around to posting them.

This was a quick and easy skirt to make. The only changes that I made to the pattern was to put in a invisible zipper. The fabric has Lycra in it so they are supper comfy to wear.

I felt the need to do something crafty this week so I have been beading some. I'll have to take some pictures of a couple of necklaces I made this past week and post them next time.

Got mail

I picked up some Vogue and McCall's patterns at Hancock's $3.99 and $.99 sale today. I really  need to get  started on my fall sewing but it's just so HOT here that it makes fall seem so far away right now.

I  ordered some fabric from fabric.com.that came this week. I got some pretty Olivia's holiday cottons that I'm going to  use to make some aprons.Some medium weight cottons in black and white to make up some purses. and some stretch cotton sateen in faded blue (looks like a demin) that I hope to use it for my first Colette pattern The Beignet skirt pattern that I also got from fabric.com.

Over the past month I have also order some books from amazon. I just got the Vintage Hairstyling by Lauren Rennells the other day and have really enjoyed looking at all the retro hairstyles.I highly recommend this book it really breaks it down for you with step by step instructions on how to achieve these great retro looks. I seem to be into all things retro right now I have even been watching a lot of the old movies on net flicks.The style's that I seem to like the most are from the 1950s.

The Pocket Stylist by Kendall Farr looks like it will be a great little book to help me with what to  wear for my body type. I have a hard time sometimes knowing what will look good on me so hopefully this will help me out:) I have also make one apron from the The Perfect Apron by Rob Merrett and it turned out cute. I love the aprons in this book I think I would make all but maybe a couple of them.  I bought the book The Handmade Marketplace by Kari Chapin because I have been thinking about selling some of the stuff I make. Great little book with a wealth of information in it.

Well time to get back to cutting out some patterns and watching an old movie on net flicks

The neckline is what drew me to this pattern in the first place.

Lined blend.

I knew that the top would fit over my head without the zipper so I omitted the back zipper.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?

I have made this pattern twice now. The first one sleeveless in a size 12 and the second one in a size 10 with the longer sleeves with the ruffle at the end of the sleeve.

Conclusion:

Love this pattern.

I have made a few skirts and tops in the past few weeks that I need to post here. Hopefully I can get my hubby to take some pictures this weekend. I have a few more summer things that I want to sew then I think I will move on to making some fall clothes.

New Vogue Patterns

I get giddy with excitement when the pattern company's put out their new patterns but I have been disappointed lately with alot of their recent lines. Thankfully Vogue has stepped up and saved the day. I'm really impressed with the new patterns for early fall .

Fitted dress with pullover. I love how this pullover drapes so beautifully. Not sure if it's a look I could pull of but we'll see.

Love the self fabric braid trim on this one. It does take quite a bit of fabric tho to make this dress.

Like the ruffles and the cross over back on this one.

This is one of the vogue easy options patterns.

Now back to sewing up a couple of skirts that I'm working on.

Vogue 8469

I loved this pattern when I saw it in the vogue catalog. Then I seen the perfect fabric at Hancock fabrics and knew I just had to make this dress. I don't know why but I do love bows. It gives the dress a little bit of a vintage feel and I seem to be loving all things vintage right now. I've been reading some wonderful blogs on vintage sewing and checking out some of the vintage patterns for sale on Etsy.



Pattern Description:Semi-fitted dresses have lined bodice, midriffs, back zipper closures and topstitching details. A: mid-knee length and cap sleeves with elastic casing. B: 6" above ankle length, sleeveless.

Pattern Sizing:

6-20 I used a straight 12.

Yes the only difference was the contras fabric I used for the bow.

Were the instructions easy to follow?

Very easy to follow.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?

I love the sleeves and the big bow in the front.

Poplin from Hancock Fabrics. I love this fabric it's so easy to work with.

I used a invisible zipper and contras fabric for the bow.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?

I would like to sew this again maybe the sleeveless version. I may leave of the bow for a more casual look next time.

Conclusion:

I wore this dress to Church last week and it was comfy and cool on.

6-12 I made the size twelve

Yes looks just like view c except mine is in a print fabric.

Were the instructions easy to follow?

Very easy to follow

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?

The ease of a wrap skirt.

Poplin That I bought at hancock fabrics.

None

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?

I do plan to sew this again maybe in a linen next time.

Conclusion:

I made this skirt about a month ago and have found that it has become one of my faves in my closet. I would highly recommend this pattern. Great pattern for beginners . Give it a try yourself!

Thought since I have been sewing alot for myself lately that maybe I should make something for my sweet husband(.poor guy never gets anything made for him) He always needs new shirts and pants for work so today before I left work I picked up a couple of patterns.
