Vogue 8346

I can't believe it's been so long since my last post! Without getting into to many details lets just say that life has been a little hectic around here. Hopefully it will be getting back to a normal pace again. I have managed to get in a little sewing here and there just lacking time to post on this blog.

Here's the pattern review for the Vogue coat I made a couple of weeks ago.

Pattern Description:

Lined fitted coat has double-breasted buttoned or snap closing. Princess seams and shoulder pads.

Pattern Sizing:

12-14 I used the size 12.

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?

Yes I made view A

Were the instructions easy to follow?

I found the instructions very clear and easy to follow. I did not follow the instructions for lining the coat instead I used Sandra Betzina method for bagging the lining.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?

I liked the doubled breasted front and also how the coat has a little swing to it.

Fabric Used:

I wool blend fabric that I bought at our local Hancock Fabrics store.

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:

I made this up in a size 12 but ended up taking in the seams for a better fit so I think I could have gone with the size 10. I also took out about half inch of ease out of the sleeve cap. I added a back stay to help the coat keeps it shape and also interface the sleeve cap.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?

I would like to sew this again in the longer version. This is a easy coat pattern with nice results so give it a try!

Conclusion:

Thanks for stopping by I'm off to cut out a couple of knit dresses! After making my coat something  quick and easy sounds just about right :)
